Universidad de la Música G Martell A.C. from Mexico received the International Quality Summit in New York 2009

Universidad de la Música G Martell A.C. from Mexico received the B.I.D. International Quality Summit in New York for its business success in Mexico, through its efforts to implement quality and its attention to customer satisfaction.


Mrs. Grisel García, Director of the Theater, Ms. Lili Martell, daughter of the University Founder, Ms. Gaby Morales Guest of Honor, and Prof. Sergio Gutiérrez of Universidad de la Música G Martell A.C., received the International B.I.D. Quality Award in New York from Jose E. Prieto, President of Business Initiative Directions.

Oustanding business people from 54 countries participated at the event for the purpose of receiving this renowned recognition for Commitment to Quality and Excellence.

The XIII International B.I.D. Convention for Quality of Business Initiative Directions, was held in the United States of America, in New York, on May 25th, in the Marriott Marquis Astor Ballroom, which is at the center of Manhattan, at the major hub and crossroads of America, Times Square. The event was attended by those business leaders who symbolize talent and success, such as Bohdan Zakiewicz, whom B.I.D. is proposing for nomination to receive the Nobel Prize, in recognition of his long career in scientific solutions for the current energy problems and in the upcoming centuries. Another of the most relevant award recipients was Simplex from India that has over 200,000 employees involved in its 126 projects in infrastructures.

Previously awarded companies who have received the B.I.D. trophy at ceremonies in past years are leaders in quality such as: Turner Construction, the top U.S. construction firm which is now completing the Burj Dubai, to be the world’s tallest (3 times the height of the Eiffel Tower); the Russian Space Research Agency Khrunichev, whose scientific chief, Mr. Valery Menshikov, is the developer of the perpetual engine; KEPCO Korea Electric Power (at 228 in the Fortune Global 500); Plamex (Plantronics)- U.S.A. - Mexico, manufacturer of the Plantronics headsets used in NASA missions; Franklin Electric - U.S.A., world leader in its sector; Alcoa - France, the worldwide major aluminum company at 79 in the Fortune 500 list; CVG Electrificación del Caroní (EDELCA) of Venezuela which provides 70% of the country's electrical power; and Cooparaiso - Brazil, which trades on the NY Stock Exchange; and from India, Indian Oil Corporation Limited (number 135 of the Global Fortune 500), Tata Group - India, with 380,000 employees, Reliance Industries and Reliance Energy - India (at 206 of the Global Fortune 500), headed by the Ambani family, considered the world's richest. Other companies awarded by B.I.D. are Haki AB - Sweden, leading manufacturer of modular scaffolding for the oil sector, shipping and other industries; Ansaldo of Italy, in the sector of nuclear plant construction; Zepter International - Austria, whose founder Philip Zepter is the richest Serbian-born person in the world; and Eybl International AG, Austria-Germany, leading textile manufacturer for the automobile sector, acquired recently by Prevent Group of Germany, with 12,000 employees. RAO “UES of Russia”, the company which supplies 70% of Russia's electrical energy, was previously awarded by B.I.D. as well as Navoi Mining Metallurgy Combinat of Uzbekistan, the most important gold and uranium mine in the world. From the Middle East: King Fahd Industrial Port - Yanbu of Saudi Arabia, the main port of the Saudi Sea Ports network; and GARMCO Foil Mill of Bahrain, the world's third largest in the aluminium sector, with a capacity of 830,000 tons annually. From the Orient, recipients of the B.I.D. award are COFCO China (number 450 on the Global Fortune 500 list), and Inventec Electronics Sdn. Bhd. - Malaysia, belonging to the Inventec Group which is ranked 17th IT company in the Business Week 100.

BID Award for Quality
